Tottenham play host to struggling Norwich City on Wednesday evening as both sides put their Premier League woes to one side for this FA Cup fifth round clash.
Spurs have lost their last three matches, most recently throwing away two separate leads in a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sunday’s defeat put another dent in their charge for Champions League qualification, leaving them seventh and behind their weekend opponents by two points.
The FA Cup can offer some much-needed respite for José Mourinho, who will be hopeful of securing a first piece of silverware during his debut season with the Lilywhites. But Spurs have found life difficult in this competition to date, needing replays to get past Middlesbrough and Southampton.
Meanwhile, Norwich are still firmly rooted to the foot of the Premier League table, but managed to surpass all expectations last Friday night, beating third-placed Leicester City 1-0 at Carrow Road. The Canaries beat Preston North End and Burnley on their travels to make it this far, but a trip to north London promises to be a very different proposition for Daniel Farke’s side.
